Villagers wins Ivor Novello ‘Album Award’ for Darling Arithmetic

Released in April 2015, Darling Arithmetic – Villagers’ third full-length - is a breathtakingly, beautiful record entirely about love and relationships. O’Brien wrote, recorded, produced and mixed the album at his home in Malahide, a coastal town north of Dublin. It was a more pared-back, intimate journey compared to the multi-faceted arrangements of 2010’s Becoming A Jackal and 2013’s {Awayland} and revealed a single-minded artist at the peak of his already considerable songwriting powers. This is Conor O’Brien’s second Ivor Novello Award, having previously won ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’ in 2011, for his track ‘Becoming A Jackal’ taken from the debut album of the same name.
