UK live dates confirmed for 2017

Legendary folk singer and one of England’s most respected song collectors, Shirley Collins has returned to recording after 38 years. Her new album, Lodestar will be released on 4th November through Domino.

To celebrate the release, Collins had previously confirmed two intimate instore performances for next month and she is now pleased to announce a series of live special events for 2017 including London’s Barbican, Celtic Connections and Bristol’s Colston Hall with more dates to be announced.

Shirley Collins has created the unlikeliest release of the century so far and the live shows will be no different. The album is a collection of English, American and Cajun songs dating from the 16th Century to the 1950s, recorded at Shirley’s home in Lewes by Stephen Thrower and Ossian Brown of Cyclobe and produced and musically directed by Ian Kearey. These musicians will all appear at the shows alongside a fine array of other musicians as well as handpicked special guests and dancers for each date.

Having only sung in public at a handful of guest appearances since 1982, these live dates will make the return of Shirley Collins truly complete, and are not to be missed.

Collins has shared three tracks from the forthcoming album, ‘Cruel Lincoln’, ‘Death and the Lady’ and ‘Pretty Polly’. Watch a behind the scenes video for the making of the wonderful ‘Pretty Polly’ video below.

Lodestar will be available on limited edition deluxe vinyl with a 24 page 12” booklet featuring song notes by Shirley Collins and sleeve notes by Stewart Lee and a signed print (signed print is available exclusively via Dom Mart), limited edition deluxe CD with 28 page booklet and standard vinyl.
