Shirley Collins confirms guests for forthcoming live shows
30th January 2017
At the end of 2016, legendary folk singer and song collector Shirley Collins released Lodestar - her first record in 38 years and one that was swiftly named among her best. To celebrate the release, Collins announced a series of very special live events for 2017 including London’s Barbican, Celtic Connections and Bristol’s Colston Hall. She now adds two new shows at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall and Gateshead's The Sage with more to follow.
Shirley Collins created the unlikeliest release of the century so far and these live events will be no different. Shirley has gathered friends, collaborator and allies for these momentous shows, The Lodestar Band has been specifically formed for the occasion featuring Ian Kearey, Ossian Brown, Dave Arthur, Alex Neilson and Pip Barnes. They will be joined by the likes of Graham Coxon, Alasdair Roberts, Sam Lee and Lisa Knapp. Additionally, there will be visuals by Nick Abrahams - who directed the 'Death and the Lady' video – at every show and select shows will feature dancing by the all-girl morris troupe Boss Morris and Brighton Morris Men. See below for the full list of live dates and hand-picked special guests.
Having only sung in public at a handful of guest appearances since 1982, these live dates will make the return of Shirley Collins truly complete, and are not to be missed.
