Francois & The Atlas Mountains share new track 1982

Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains have today shared ‘1982’, the latest track from their forthcoming album, Solide Mirage – out this Friday 3rd March.

Featuring masterful string arrangements from Owen Pallett, ‘1982’ is a dream-like song dedicated to people born in the same year as Fránçois – 1982, “I wanted to dedicate a song to those who were born in the early eighties. They were teenagers without mobile phones, and they built their identity in between two generations: the utopian generation (their parents) and the younger pragmatic generation (born in the nineties onward) who are more at ease with computers and the confusion of a highly connected lifestyle.”

Solide Mirage is the group’s most outspoken and deep-rooted work to date, it is like an imperceptible dream, a fantasy where reality shifts as one approaches it – a perfect definition for this protean, changeable-yet-direct album which reveals new facets and new landscapes in every listen. Sometimes soft sometimes tough, sometimes crazy, but always highly political, whether direct or reading between the lines. The album was recorded in Jet Studios in Brussels and produced by Ash Workman, who also worked on Piano Ombre and who has worked with Metronomy and Christine & The Queens, with strings performed by Owen Pallett.

Solide Mirage is available to pre-order now on deluxe LP (which includes a 7” featuring the exclusive tracks ‘Night Thoughts’ & ‘Feu de Joie’) (WIGLPX379), standard LP (WIGLP379), CD (WIGCD379) and digital download (WIG379D).
