Superorganism unveil new single "It's Raining" featuring Stephen Malkmus and Dylan Cartlidge

Having announced their return earlier this month with news of their long awaited second album – World Wide Pop, due July 15th - Superorganism now deliver the second song from the upcoming record and another slice of irresistible pop.

Like the previously shared “Teenager”, “It’s Raining” also features collaborators joining the Superorganism colony; this time from Stephen Malkmus and UK rapper Dylan Cartlidge. Amidst the stomping beats, glitchy synth drips and their collage-like maximalism, another familiar voice can be heard courtesy of a Scott Walker sample.

The band say of the collaborations on “It’s Raining”: “We've been enormous fans of Stephen Malkmus forever, and we loved the idea of combining Malkmus and Scott Walker into a strange almost broken-sounding hip hop track. We'd done a remix for Dylan Cartlidge and absolutely loved his flow; we asked him if he'd like to try a verse and he fit so naturally. With Dylan being from the North of England and Stephen in Portland, the rain theme is all the more fitting for them too.”

Directed by AEVA, the video features illustrations from Risa Kazama, and takes us - as a smiling drop of rain - on a journey through a bullet train meeting each member of Superorganism as well as Malkmus and Cartlidge.

Superorganism World Wide Pop

Album | 15th July 2022

Superorganism return with their second album World Wide Pop in July, their first new music since 2018’s self-titled debut.

Blasting back with thirteen tracks that explore the infinite versus the intimate, taking in friendship, time, connectedness, and the universe; World Wide Pop contemplates the contradiction of being hopeful and curious when faced with relentless consumerism and overwhelming noise. However choosing optimism, Superorganism believe in the power of pop music and all the things it can do. World Wide Pop bridges the personal and existential whilst delivering a bag full of tunes laced with deadpan humour.

World Wide Pop also brings in an international set of collaborators including Stephen Malkmus, CHAI, Pi Ja Ma, Dylan Cartlidge & legendary musician and actor Gen Hoshino.
