Martin Courtney dévoile son nouveau single "Sailboat"

Martin Courtney, leader du groupe indie rock Real Estate, publiera Magic Sign, son deuxième album solo le 24 juin chez Domino, qui succèdera à son premier album Many Moons sorti en 2015. Martin dévoile aujourd’hui « Sailboat », deuxième extrait de son prochain disque, une tentative pleine d'énergie pour surmonter le désespoir par la gratitude.
Martin à propos de « Sailboat » : « Pour une raison quelconque, j'ai toujours pensé que je n’avais pas le "droit de faire du rock". Cette chanson, c’est ma tentative de faire du rock sans autorisation. J'ai eu la chance d’être accompagné sur le titre de Matt Barrick, qui a joué de la batterie sur la plus grande chanson rock des années 2000 « The Rat ». Je n'aurais pas pu le faire autrement.
Les paroles évoquent la nécessité de garder de la distance et d'essayer de rester positif face à toutes les conneries. Une tâche de plus en plus difficile.
Et je trouvais que « Sailboat » était un titre marrant. »
Après la sortie de Magic Sign, Martin sera en tournée aux US, comprenant des dates à The Lodge Room à Los Angeles le 19 juillet et à Elsewhere Zone 1 à Brooklyn le 5 août. John Andrews & the Yawns en assureront les premières parties et joueront également aux côtés de Courtney.

When Martin Courtney was a teenager, he knew how to get lost. In the late ‘90s and early 2000s, there’s Martin, loaded into a car with friends. They’re navigating the suburban sprawl of New Jersey with no destination in mind. He and his friends would “get thoroughly confused and look for familiar green signs with arrows pointing to towns we’d heard of. We’d call them ‘magic signs,’” he says.
That’s the thing about magic: when you go looking for it, you start to see it everywhere. And you can hear it twinklingly throughout the ten songs on Magic Sign, the second solo album written, performed, & produced by the Real Estate songwriter. The album was recorded, mixed & co-produced by Rob Schnapf. Additional performers include Matt Barrick, Oliver Hill, Kacey Johansing, and Tim Ramsey
