Hot Chip dévoile le clip de "Spell"

Vendredi dernier, Hot Chip sortait A Bath Full Of Ecstasy, son septième album, une forme d’aboutissement, un disque qui cristallise l’univers sonore qui a rendu célèbre Hot Chip: un mélange d'euphorie et de mélancolie sur des mélodies colorées, de voix singulières et de rythmes électro pop percutants.

Avant son concert à Glastonbury ce week end – headline de la Park Stage dimanche – le groupe dévoile le clip du titre “Spell”.

Morceau à l’origine destinée pour Katy Perry (Alexis Taylor et Joe Goddard ont contribué à son album Witness en 2017), "Spell" présente certaines des productions vocales les plus expérimentales que l'on trouve sur A Bath Full of Ecstasy. Le chant de Taylor y est arrangé de façon ludique et libre, sans obscurcir les mots, rappelant le désir et le mélange des genres à la Prince.

Réalisé par Simon Owens, le clip de "Spell" reprend les paroles "Like a spell you are under | And now I feel your curse / It's all that I wanted / A memory in reverse / Forever I'm haunted" et les transforme en une chambre étrange et tortueuse qui trouverait volontiers sa place dans un volet du film Evil Dead.

Après un été riche en festivals, Hot Chip entreprendra à l’automne sa plus grande tournée au Royaume-Uni, en Europe et en Amérique du Nord, avec deux concerts parisiens à l’Elysée Montmartre les 7 et 8 décembre.
