Parlons ici d'un album. Bonnie Prince Billy en a déjà réalisé un certain nombre et en a entendu beaucoup d'autres dans sa vie. Il les a trouvés taillés dans le vif, les a chéris comme des petits trésors ; tous ces albums communiquant la musique dans l'émotion, la libération et la catharsis, à la fois pour réunir et divertir, le tout en deux faces et moins d'une heure.
Keeping Secrets Will Destroy You, disponible le 11 août via Domino, apparaît comme un album fait pour être écouté dans une pièce. C’est le son de personnes réunies (quelque chose que nous avons récemment craint d'avoir perdu), communiant, chantant et jouant des cordes, des bois et des touches. KSWDY se présente simplement et se chante à tue-tête joyeusement, mais est-ce un portrait de famille ou un conte de fées ?
Keeping Secrets Will Destroy You a été enregistré à Louisville par Nick Roeder, avec Sara Louise Callaway au violon, Kendall Carter aux claviers, Elisabeth Fuchsia à l'alto et au violon, Dave Howard à la mandoline, Drew Miller au saxophone et avec la voix de Dane Waters. La présence dans le groupe d'un si grand nombre de musiciens et de professeurs de musique locaux a ouvert un large éventail de genres, glissant de manière fluide du classique au folk acid japonais et vers bien d’autres pistes. Mais avant tout, ces musiciens contribuent au sens de la communauté et de l'hérédité qui sont la moelle et la force vitale de cette musique.
Bonnie dévoile le premier extrait de KSWDY, "Bananas", une balade mystérieuse et espiègle, et son clip. Sur un canevas de guitare spartiates rappelant la production désormais classique de Master and Everyone, le question-réponse de Bonnie et Dane Waters fait circuler l'amour jusqu'à ce que des fleurs jaillissent du désert et fassent craqueler les trottoirs.
