Wet Leg win two BRIT Awards for Best New Artist and Group of the Year

On Saturday night at The Brits Awards 2023, Wet Leg picked up their first ever BRITs for Best New Artist and Group of the Year. The band also performed their massive debut single “Chaise Longue” at the ceremony backed by the all-female Morris dancing collective Boss Morris and surrounded by dancing beasts and bushes. With creative direction by Lava La Rue, The O2 was transformed into a wild and pagan land.

Wet Leg said of the win: “It was truly inconceivable to walk away with 2 BRITs, thanks to everyone who made our night so special.”

Last weekend, Wet Leg also scooped two GRAMMYs at the 65th Annual GRAMMY ® Awards in Los Angeles for Best Alternative Album for their self-titled debut and Best Alternative Music Performance for “Chaise Longue”.

Wet Leg was released by Domino in April 2022 and came chock full of bangers including “Wet Dream”, “Angelica”, “Too Late Now”, “Ur Mum” and “Chaise Longue” (of course). After receiving rave reviews, it went straight to #1 in the UK album charts and has since been certified Gold, for selling more than 100,000 copies. The band’s promotion of the album saw them become a late night favourite, with performances on Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Later With… Jools Holland, Jimmy Kimmel Live and a very early booking on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert. They were profiled by the likes of The New Yorker, The Guardian, New York Times, NME, Mojo, The Face, Rolling Stone UK and more before winning at the AIM and Libera Awards (American Association Of Independent Music) and being shortlisted for the coveted Mercury Prize. Wet Leg also debuted at #1 in Australia and at #14 on the US Billboard 200 Album Chart.

Later this year, Wet Leg will play Coachella, Reading & Leeds Festival and are the special guests of Pulp at their comeback gig in London’s Finsbury Park. Having kicked off their extensive tour support for fellow GRAMMY and BRIT winner Harry Styles in North America last month, they will now head to Australia and New Zealand with Styles plus play their first ever shows in Japan and Mexico.
