Shirley Collins shares Old Johnny Buckle plus performance at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards

Tomorrow, Shirley Collins will perform at Radio 2’s Folk Awards in the Royal Albert Hall, where she has also been nominated for two awards: Best Album and Folk Singer of the Year. It marks another highlight in the magical return of Shirley to song and stage.

Having released Lodestar - her first album in 38 years – at the end of last year, Collins reinstated herself on the live scene in February with special shows at London’s Barbican and Glasgow’s Celtic Connections. Met with wide acclaim, Shirley has announced further dates including Brighton Festival and Green Man Festival.

Lodestar is a collection of English, American and Cajun songs dating from the 16th Century to the 1950s, recorded at Shirley’s home in Lewes by Stephen Thrower and Ossian Brown of Cyclobe and produced and musically directed by Ian Kearey. It is available on limited edition deluxe vinyl with a 24 page 12” booklet featuring song notes by Shirley Collins and sleeve notes by Stewart Lee and a signed print (signed print is available exclusively via Dom Mart), limited edition deluxe CD with 28 page booklet and standard vinyl.
