Before Bill Callahan recorded as Bill Callahan, he recorded as Smog. And Smog produced a catalogue of exceptional, personal song craft, often with the simplest of tools: the Callahan voice, a guitar, and a way of interpreting all the world has to offer that was Smog's alone.
